Hackathon featuring the EUDI Wallet, an AI avatar and live tech demos among the highlights of the 2026 edition

Banking 4.0, the event dedicated to the transformation of the financial industry, returns to Bucharest on November 24–25, 2026, with a programme featuring new formats for interaction among professionals from banking, insurance and fintech. Tickets are now available online, starting at €200 per day, with discounts of up to 20% for group purchases.

Held under the theme “From Digital to Autonomous Finance,” this year’s edition brings a range of new experiences and collaboration opportunities at a time when artificial intelligence is beginning to transform not only the interfaces of financial services, but also the way decisions are made and executed.

From Ideas to Prototypes: A Hackathon Focused on Instant Credit

One of this year’s highlights is the “Instant Credit with the EUDI Wallet” hackathon, powered by Tremend. Participants will have one and a half days of development time to build a working onboarding and credit application flow using the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet).

The challenge puts a key question at the forefront of the future of financial services: how can digital identity and emerging technologies make access to credit faster and simpler?

Banking Labs: Taking Technology Beyond the Slides

For those interested in the practical implementation of innovation, Banking 4.0 is introducing Banking Labs, a dedicated stage for technical presentations and live demonstrations. The focus shifts from concepts and promises to technologies, solutions and applications that participants can explore firsthand.

Companies set to deliver presentations include industry leaders such as Amazon Web Services and UiPath.

Another new feature is the participation of an AI avatar as a speaker and panelist, a format announced as a first of its kind, at least in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The initiative brings the event’s central theme to life: the transition from digital services to increasingly autonomous financial experiences.

International Connections and Networking Beyond the Stage

The 2026 edition will also welcome a delegation of experts from Luxembourg, one of Europe’s leading centres for investment funds and cross-border financial services. Their participation will create opportunities for dialogue and knowledge-sharing among professionals from different markets and financial ecosystems.

The experience will be complemented by a dedicated lounge and curated meetings area, designed to encourage meaningful conversations and potential partnerships. On the first day, the programme will conclude with a networking cocktail reception, giving participants the opportunity to continue discussions in a more informal setting.
