RoFintech opens membership to fintech companies in the Republic of Moldova
Moldovan fintech companies can now join the Romanian Fintech Association as associate members, gaining voting rights and access to industry initiatives, events and cross-border partnerships.
The Romanian Fintech Association (RoFintech) is opening its membership to fintech companies headquartered in the Republic of Moldova, inviting them to join as associate members in accordance with the association’s Statute.
The move comes as the two markets grow increasingly interconnected. The Republic of Moldova is aligning its regulatory framework with European standards, while fintech companies are increasingly developing products and services for both markets.
“By welcoming Moldovan fintech companies into its community, RoFintech aims to strengthen ties between the two ecosystems and create new opportunities for knowledge sharing, strategic partnerships and joint projects in digital financial services.” – according to the press release.
RoFintech’s Statute, updated on 9 June 2026, explicitly allows companies from the Republic of Moldova to join the association if they have, or intend to establish, a relevant connection with Romania’s fintech ecosystem.
“For fintech, the Prut River is not a border; it is a bridge. By opening its doors to Moldovan companies, RoFintech is bringing together two ecosystems that share the same language and the same ambition to innovate. Companies from the Republic of Moldova no longer have to start from scratch: Romania offers them not only a gateway to the European market, but also a community that can help accelerate their growth,” said Tudor Darie, CEO of Fagura.
To qualify for membership, companies must submit an application and meet the eligibility criteria set out in the Statute. These include holding exclusive commercialisation rights to software, hardware or hybrid products developed within the company and designed specifically and exclusively for financial services, the intermediation of industry processes or the processing of financial data.
Associate membership gives companies the opportunity to participate in working groups, contribute to the association’s programmes and propose new initiatives. Members can also attend industry events, access resources available to the community and receive support in promoting activities aligned with RoFintech’s objectives.
Each associate member is entitled to one vote in the General Assembly and may nominate candidates for the Board of Directors.
Moldovan fintech companies to be included in the RoFintech Gala
Starting in 2026, the RoFintech Gala will also welcome fintech companies from the Republic of Moldova. Moldovan companies will be eligible to enter any award category alongside their Romanian counterparts. The gala will also introduce a dedicated category recognising innovation and high-impact projects developed by fintech companies in the Republic of Moldova.
Cross-border cooperation is already taking shape through dialogue and community events. At the RoFintech Breakfast hosted by Fagura at Supertree, participants discussed fintech opportunities, alternative investments and potential partnerships between the two ecosystems.
Olesea Prodan, CFO of Moldova Innovation Technology Park (MITP), also took part in the event, highlighting opportunities for Romanian companies looking to expand their operations into the Republic of Moldova.
By extending membership to Moldovan fintech companies, RoFintech is providing a platform for these conversations to develop into concrete projects, knowledge-sharing initiatives and closer collaboration between members. Companies joining the association will be able to share their expertise, contribute their solutions to community initiatives and build relationships with potential partners in Romania.
