New partnership to enable agentic commerce for local payments in Poland

PPRO is partnering with BLIK to develop agentic commerce capabilities for local payments in Poland, with the aim of connecting BLIK with the emerging agentic ecosystem. “The collaboration marks a step change in the evolution of digital payments and reflects a shared ambition to shape the future of digital commerce.” – according to the press release.

Agentic commerce is expected to become one of the fastest-growing areas of digital commerce, with AI agents projected to drive up to 15% of European e-commerce spending by 2030, and adoption expected to accelerate up to four times faster than traditional e-commerce. However, without support for local payment methods, the agentic economy risks defaulting to a card-centric payment model, limiting access to the payment methods consumers rely on and prefer across many regions. In Poland, BLIK accounts for around 71% of e-commerce transactions, demonstrating the immense importance of local payments to consumers in this market alone.

While global card schemes have native features such as tokenisation to streamline the adoption of agentic commerce, PPRO will provide the infrastructure that enables local payment schemes, merchants and PSPs to participate in the AI economy. The project with BLIK will introduce one of the world’s first local payment method implementations for agent-initiated transactions, highlighting the critical role LPMs are poised to play in the future of AI-powered commerce.
