Finance leaders under pressure to implement AI ahead of time
The vast majority of CFOs in the UK and Ireland feel they are being pressured to implement AI technology more quickly than they feel is comfortable. This is the main finding from a study commissioned by accountancy software firm AccountsIQ, according to Finextra.
It found that 82% of finance leaders feel they are being rushed over AI installation while 41% describe the pressure as ‘significant’.
This pressure is also highest in Ireland (91.5%) meaning that there is almost a universal discomfort over the push to move faster than many would wish omn the use of AI.
At the same time, the survey revealed a high level of trust in AI technology with 81% of respondents stating that they trust the outputs that come from AI-driven tools or processes.
Consequently it is the speed of adoption that unsettles finance leaders rather than what is produced.
The survey also revealed concerns over the potential dependency on the technology with 76% stating they are concerned that their organisation could become overly reliant on AI in finance decision-making.
“Ask a finance leader if they trust their numbers, and the room doesn’t hesitate. Ask about if they trust AI with those numbers, and it goes silent. Today, our third CFO Mindset Report goes live. It sets out to explain that hesitation around AI.” – said Darren Cran, CEO at AccountsIQ.
He continued: “Finance leaders aren’t skeptical about their data. 96% trust its accuracy. They don’t have doubts about the technology either. 81% trust what AI produces. Yet 82% feel pushed to adopt AI faster than they’re comfortable with. What’s missing is clarity. On how to use it, where to start, and when to rely on it.”
Inside the report:
→ Where finance teams really stand on trust today
→ What they’re still deciding without the full picture (68% say big decisions are made without enough data)
→ What they told us would give them the confidence to go further and faster with AI
