Corpay introduces Agent Card capability to power secure agentic commerce
AI agents can now generate controlled virtual cards for approved business transactions — the next step in Corpay’s AI roadmap
Corpay, a global leader in corporate payments, announced Agent Card, „a new capability that enables secure virtual card creation for AI-driven commerce workflows” – according to the press release. In April, Corpay brought AI into the everyday work of finance teams with an AI Virtual Assistant in the Corpay Complete platform.
„With Agent Card, Corpay extends their AI first approach a step further, allowing AI agents to act on a business’s behalf directly, within the same controls that have always defined Corpay’s approach to payments.” – the company said.
As AI agents increasingly assist with purchasing, procurement, travel, advertising, and other business workflows, companies need payment infrastructure that is secure, flexible, and built for automation. „Corpay’s Agent Card capability brings virtual card controls into these new AI-powered experiences, helping organizations manage payments with confidence.” – the company explained.
„Agentic commerce is creating a new frontier for business payments,” said Danny Martucci, President & GM of Commercial Card at Corpay. „With Agent Card, Corpay is enabling trusted AI agents to initiate secure, controlled payment workflows using the same principles that make virtual cards such a powerful tool for businesses today: authorization, control, visibility, and security.”
Agent Card supports both user-directed agent experiences and machine-to-machine payment workflows. Incorporating authentication, spend intent authorization, and open standards for AI connectivity, Agent Card works with leading AI agent platforms to make secure payments on behalf of customers.
This architecture gives customers the freedom to use the AI tools that best fit their business processes, while continuing to ensure that spending controls are enforced. The capability is designed to support a range of future commercial applications, including: supplier payments, digital advertising purchases, travel bookings, procurement workflows, other scenarios where AI agents may act on behalf of a business user or system.
„Virtual cards are uniquely suited for agentic commerce because they can be issued with precise controls for a specific purpose,” added Tom Pierce, Chief AI Officer at Corpay. „That makes them an ideal payment method for AI-enabled workflows where businesses need automation without giving up governance. Our role is to help businesses modernize their payment infrastructure with innovative solutions that prepare them for an AI-driven, agent-ready future.”
Agent Card reflects Corpay’s continued investment in modern payment infrastructure and commitment to helping businesses safely adopt new technologies as AI agents become more active in commercial transactions.
